Powersmart DB8631 Review

This mower is compact and light weight, built for maneuvering around yard fixtures, tight corners, and in general for maintaining smaller yards. Built with a 196cc self-propelled, gas powered engine, this mower is more powerful than some of the other models from Powersmart or other brands in the same price range.

The Powersmart DB8631, like other Powersmart models, offers a 3-in-1 design that allows you to choose between side discharge, bagging, or mulching, so you can collect or distribute your grass clippings as you please. And with an easy-pull start design, you can almost always get this mower started on the first pull.

You can set this mower to 5 different height positions to tackle any length of grass, and plow through tough-debris, weeds, and overgrowth. This mower is also built with larg, 8-inch rear wheels that allow you to easily push it through thick and tall grass. With a deep dome deck, and solidly built, sharp-to-the-touch blades, this machine is designed for better mulching. This mower weighs in at 91 lbs, making it heavier than some of the other Powersmart models, but also cuts a bit wider with a 22 inch mowing deck.

While this mower is a powerful, efficient, lightweight machine at its best, many customers have experienced issues with the mower upon receiving it. For this reason, this mower is currently unavailable in many places online, such as Amazon. We recommend trying a different mower from Powersmart, like the DB2194P, which will give you better results at the same price range.

Powersmart DB8631 Reviews

This mower worked great at first, and I used it succesfully to cut my 1/2 acre yard a few times. But after about 5 mows it stopped starting, and there’s no choke or primer on it to try and get it going. The piece that blows grass out the side has also broken off. I don’t know how this happened as I’m sure I didn’t knock it against anything. The self-propel function has also crapped out I’m pretty sure. Basically, I’ve never had so many issues so early on with a mower. Looking at some of the other reviews I see I’m not the only one. I’ve tried a few of the other Powersmart mowers, and they’ve all been top-notch, so I’m not sure what happened with this one. I’m gonna switch to one of the other models of Powersmart, and recommend you do the same.
