The SRM-280S has a lighter engine and larger fuel capacity than other models, like the SRM-266S. It also is much less noisy, with drastically reduced vibration and harshness. This trimmer has a solid, 59” steel shaft and a 17” cutting swath. The SRM-280S also comes with a Speed-Feed 450 trimmer head. This trimmer comes equipped with a see-through, 21.1 fl oz capacity, and a 28.1 cc professional-grade 2-stroke engine.

What a pleasant surprise to get to work and have the trimmer do all of the hard stuff. I was able to dig out old growth from around cemetery stones without hardly any effort from me. The power of this echo trimmer is outstanding. I am a big fan of Echo and am happy that Home Depot carries such a fine product. Almost perfect. The slight con is with the style of head. The string head is a little difficult to access and does not close completely without some strong force. I’ll be reverting to an older style for familiarity and comfort.

Don’t buy anything else. Just bought the SRM 280/S. It’s FANTASTIC! It replaced a 15 year old SRM 260S- a winner also! I considered the 280T, but did not want higher RPM’s in order to get more cutting torque. The 280S has an awesome attack, and far more torque than my prized old 260S. Believe me, this is all the whiskers you will ever need! I used to own a commercial lawn service in Florida. I moved to Tennessee and retired with 7 acres to care for. I brought much of my Echo equipment with me and I am an Echo fan – exclusively! No other manufacturer builds comparable product period.
