First up on our list is the Tetra Pond Debris-Handling Pump. Now, looks are seriously deceiving with this one. It has an aqua-green color, but it packs a serious punch despite its subtle looks.

There are two variants of this pump. One version can power through 3000 gallons of water while the other 4000 gallons. Even though it’s a pump that runs a powerful motor, it’s still energy efficient with asynchronous motor technology and unidirectional impeller. Another huge plus point would be the motor’s use of an anti-corrosive ceramic shaft. This allows your motor to function for longer periods without needing an extensive amount of maintenance; ergo, saving precious time, and repair costs.

Tetra also aims to eliminate one of the most common problems with pond pumps; clogging. With its large basket, it stops the debris you want to be stopped without clogging up the pump; ensuring maximum update.

All things considered; the Tetra Pond Debris-Handling Pump is an absolutely flawless product that completely eliminates the need for replacements for a long, long time. With its affordable price and powerful motor, Tetra Pond made sure this pump is all you could ever hope for.

When it comes to versatility, there aren’t many pumps out there that can beat the Aqua Pulse from Half Off Ponds. There are 19 different purchasable variants of this amazing product; letting you handpick the one that suits your requirements and pay accordingly.

So, let’s talk about the variants first. You have nine different gallons per hour settings. You can either start with a subtle 550 GPH setting or go all the way up to 12,500 GPH with a ton of settings in between them. That’s not all. Every user has a different cord length requirement based on how the electricity around their pond has been set up. That’s why Half Off Ponds provides two cable options; 30 foot and 100 foot.

The premium-quality motor combines the best of both worlds by incorporating the high flow from a direct drive pump and the energy-saving from a mag drive pump to ensure that you’re not only getting the best water flow but also doing it in an energy-efficient way. Moreover, the pump is made for 24-hour around the clock usage. here’s also a heat-overload sensor that’s constantly on the lookout for any inconsistent temperatures and control usage of the motor accordingly.

Another factor adding to the energy efficiency would be the variable speeds. You can increase or decrease the pump flow according to your needs to save energy. The speeds are controlled through a variable speed controller which isn’t included. But, it’s still worth it to spend that extra money on a controller.

When it comes to sheer versatility, the Little Giant is the best pump on this list. It can push through 1900 GPH and is ideal for places like ponds, waterfalls and stream application.

The first thing worth mentioning would be the motor. It has a dual-discharge setup that lets you use two water features supported by the pump simultaneously. Moreover, it also has better starting torque than most pumps on this list; allowing it to produce a much higher flow pressure.

When it comes to setting up this pump, you have the freedom to put it up horizontally or vertically, that is totally up to you. But, a small drawback of this pump would be the cord. It only has a 16-foot cord, which in most cases, isn’t enough. However, if you do have an outlet in that distance, there is no better pond pump out there you can buy.

  1. Aquanique Water Pump

AQUANIQUE 1250 GPH Waterfall Pump

Aquanique is a pretty popular vendor in the world of water pumps. And the product at our hands today is no exception. Its an extremely chic looking pump (not that looks really matter. Its going to be underwater) but is also powerful enough to do the job spectacularly.

The pump comes with four different GPH settings; 1250, 2300, 3600, and 5000. It’s a great product for both waterfalls and ponds. The pump is also really easy to use. It comes with a mesh bag that blocks out any debris making cleaning a piece of cake, preventing clogs, and minimizing the need for repairs. It lets bigger pieces of debris pass through, but the finer pieces are filtered through the back.

Aquanique has kept the safety of the pump in high regard. The pump comes with a back-spitting feature that keeps the pump nice and cool.

Everything else about this pump is definitely great. But, a huge flaw that pushed it down out list is the noise. It’s pretty much the noisiest pump on our list. And, considering the water that this motor is going to be submerged underwater, this pump is still very, very loud!

Here is a great video from Everything Ponds on YouTube comparing the two main types of pond pumps:
